This is a 60 hour course and designed to explore yoga in more depth than you would get in an average class. It is intended for students who would like to develop their knowledge of yoga further or are considering whether to teach.

This is not a teacher training course but it will provide the basics and serve as an introduction to BWY diploma. It will also be complementary to other yoga training courses such as 200 hours or 500 hours Yoga Alliance.

The course includes practical and theoretical work on the eight limbs of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras including: asana, pranayama, concentration techniques and meditation, as well as topics such as the history of Yoga and the different paths and schools of yoga. The core syllabus includes:

    •    Preparation for practice
    •    Asana
    •    Mudra (sealing gestures)
    •    Basic breathing
    •    Kriya (cleansing practices)
    •    Pranayama (breath control)
    •    Concentration techniques
    •    Relaxation techniques
    •    Chanting
    •    Talks & discussion on the contexts and meaning of yoga

Minimum of 2 years experienced with a yoga teacher (a reference is needed)
You must also be willing to regularly attend (minimum of 80% attendance is required to get the BWY Foundation certificate) and you will be expected to do some reading and research during the course.

All the dates will be on Sunday from 9:30am – 4:30pm (including breaks for tea and lunch).
There will be 10 sessions in total.


£660 course fee including BWY registration fee (£60)
£34 BWY annual membership fee (Students will need to be a member of BWY before the course begins).
Once your accepted on the course, you will need to provide £160 non refundable deposit. The remainder of the fee is due on the first day of the course.

How to Apply

Please contact me directly on and I will send you an application form.
There will be a short interview once the application forms have been submitted. This will take 10 - 15 minutes and can be done over the phone, skype or facetime if you don't live locally.

Introduction day

Normally costs £25 (Please book in advance as spaces will be limited)
I recommend attending the introduction day if you are thinking of doing the course as you will be able to meet me and the other students. It will be a good chance to get any questions about the course.
