Where a class says you can drop-in on the class timetable, you can simply turn up, no need to book. You are always welcome to contact the class teacher to ask any questions or find out more about the class.
Our classes are suitable for all levels of experience, fitness, shapes, and sizes.
If you are a complete beginner then you might want to start with a class listed as 'all levels' but it's not essential, you will be welcome to any class. When a class is a "general class, some challenges" it includes a stronger more physical practice. Simply let the teacher know if you are a beginner before the class starts.
All our classes are small so we can ensure you get the instruction you need to get started enjoyably and safely. We will add layers of instruction and technique as you are ready.
Do I need to book?
All classes are available to come along to without booking unless they state otherwise in the class listing. Some classes get fully booked, or require a term booking so aren't available for drop-in participation.
Letting the teacher know you are coming can be helpful, especially if you have any health concerns so you can have a quick chat first.
When should I arrive?
Please aim to arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of the class, especially if it is your first class.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. No special kit needed.
I'm a complete beginner, can I just show up?
If the class says 'drop-in' then yes, simply turn up. Please try to come 10 mins prior to the class and let the teacher know you are new to Yoga or Pilates. Then they can ensure you get the appropriate instructions and enjoy your first class. If you have any health issues, it is helpful to discuss with the teacher in advance.
What if I have an injury?
If you have an injury, health concern or back problems, yoga and Pilates can help but please do talk to the teacher before you get started.
Can I come if I'm pregnant?
There are specialist pre and postnatal Pilates classes available with Celia Stubbs. We also offer a Women's Yoga class with Mel Skinner who will be happy to cater for prenatal and postnatal women. Just let her know before the class starts. Both teachers are highly experienced and qualified in this field and should be able to help you with questions and enquiries.
Yoga or Pilates?
Yoga and Pilates classes develop strength, flexibility, stamina, better posture, plus increased energy and improved wellbeing. Our class guide can help you decide which to try. Most classes welcome single class drop-ins where space is available so that you can try it out and see what you enjoy.
How do I pay?
Payment is via cash or cheque, or bank transfer in advance. Sorry we don't take credit cards. You can pay the teacher directly. Full payment details can be found here.
Can I make up missed classes that I've paid for?
Yes, you can swap classes up to 2 times during your term and come along to another teachers class at another time. Please talk to your teacher about arranging this. Most classes are available for you to make up a missed class in but not all. Any missed classes must be made up in the same term, sorry we don't carry over missed classes to the next term. Do I need a mat?
We provide yoga mats and blocks free at the studio. You are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. If you tend to sweat then we ask that you cover the mat with a towel or bring your own mat to help keep our mats fresh.
Do you have space to change?
You are welcome to change in the loos & in our small kitchen but there isn't a specific changing area.
We have space to bring your valuables into the studio with you. Please turn off all phones (no sound and not on vibrate). Any belongings left in the foyer are left at your own risk. If you do leave anything at the studio, please let us know within a month so that we can hold on to it for you. We donate unclaimed items to charity each month.
Where can I park my car?
Park Row is next door to the Trenchard Street Car Park and parking fee is reasonable. Park on or near level 8 and then the car park exit leaves you almost outside our front door. In the evenings and on Sundays there is single yellow line parking on Park Row and on Woodland Road.
Where can I park my bike?
There is bike parking on the railings just down from the entrance by the pedestrian crossing.
