An ideal starting place for those new to Pilates as well as those that may have been attending Pilates classes for a while but wish to spend some time going over the basics to ensure correct technique. This two and a half hour introductory workshop will provide you with an understanding of the fundamentals of Pilates, including the origins of Pilates, its core principles and the benefits of Pilates to both mind and body.
It will be a relaxed and informal afternoon of discussion, gentle practice and handouts that can be used as a perfect starting point to join a general level group class, to start a home practice or to simply come and experience what Pilates is all about.
Pilates is a holistic form of exercise that works both body and mind, focusing on the deep abdominal muscles which support and stabilise the spine whilst increasing mind-body awareness. Working from the inside out, Pilates strengthens, elongates and rebalances the body, bringing it into correct alignment, so that the muscular and skeletal systems can function optimally.
Suitable for all abilities and levels of fitness. Please wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely.
Please contact Emily if you have any injuries or health issues and are unsure whether this workshop is suitable for you. Please note that this workshop is not suitable if you are pregnant.
