Welcome Doug to Bristol Yoga Centre!

June 7, 2017 Naomi Hayama
Doug Karson starting yoga at Bristol Yoga Centre

Bristol Yoga Centre would like to welcome Doug Karson to our team of yoga teachers! He will be teaching Himalayan Hatha Yoga on Tuesday morning at 7:15 - 8:15am and Friday evening at 5:30 - 6:45pm

More about Doug

Doug's mother was his first teacher and she has been guiding him from early on in the ways of breath.  He has very old and precious memories of her calming him down with 3 deep breathes into the belly.

In 2012, Doug met his Guru Yogi Ashokananda.  He taught him how to be compassionate and bequeathed him with his yogic name; Dayananda.  It means the bliss of mercy.  Much of Doug's teaching style, tone, and knowledge come directly from his lineage.

With Prana Kriya, Himalayan Hatha, and meditation techniques, Doug continues the practice of how to be present, past and future.  He has completed 500 specific teacher training hours with Yogi-ji and am a Senior Ashokananda School Teacher.

Yoga is a practice.  Regular and constant.  Like any other practice, the goal is not to become perfect but to have constant improvement.  This sometimes comes in the form of acceptance and recognising our already perfect nature.  Doug's classes are challenging and humorous.  He likes to play and laugh and this comes through my teaching.  He hope to see you in the studio and perhaps we can laugh together :)

Classes for Beginners

April 24, 2017 Naomi Hayama
Beginners yoga class

All of our classes at Bristol Yoga Centre are suitable for complete beginners. Our teachers are highly experienced and amongst the best trained in Bristol, they are very comfortable accommodating new students. If you’re not sure where to begin, we suggest reading our getting started guide and class guide for more information.

From the 11th of May, we have a new specialist class starting which is great for beginners.

Thursday 16:30 – 17:30pm Gentle Yoga with Pauline Hambelton-Hopf (from 11th May 2017)

Pauline is a fantastic teacher and has been teaching yoga for 15 years! She has taught many beginners during this time and will help you get started.

We also offer Restorative Yoga class on Wednesday at 19:30 – 20:45pm. This is another great class for beginners as the class is slower in pace and focuses on alignment and relaxation.

Most of our classes are available for drop in so you can try the class before committing to a term or buying a multi-card. See here for details on our class prices. Please try to come 10 mins before the class and let the teacher know you are new to Yoga or Pilates. Then they can ensure you get the appropriate instructions and enjoy your first class. If you have any health issues, it is helpful to discuss with the teacher in advance.

So why not come along ….. and feel good!
