Shuna completed 200 hour yoga alliance accredited teacher training with Dylan Ayaloo in London and specialised in a strengthening vinyasa yoga. She has subsequently completed further CPD trainings in Forrest Yoga and Mindfulness based meditation techniques.  Shuna will be teaching on Wednesday at 7:45 - 8:45am and on Thursday at 4:45 - 5:45pm.

You can join our classes as a drop in, term bookings or purchase our 5 class pack. See here for more information on our prices. We are also available on MoveGB and ClassPass.

Sustainable Flow Yoga Class: Creating a strong, stable practice.

October 18, 2018 Naomi Hayama
Sustainable Flow Yoga class with Leonora

Tailored Yoga for the hypermobile, the super bendy & the injured.

Monday at 7:30 - 8:45pm with Leonora

This class is open to all, but is especially designed for the hyper mobile, the super bendy and the injured who wish to create or maintain a longevous, sustainable Yoga practice.

As a recovering hypermobile myself, during my 32 year personal practise, I've learnt (the hard way) how to adapt and create a more supportive way of doing Yoga, which incidentally has made me a lot stronger! As a teacher, over the years I've seen a great many people (especially women and fellow Yoga teachers) drawn to Yoga precisely because of their hyper mobility, unaware that a certain way of moving is not only unsustainable but could lead to long term joint instability and/or injury. But we can turn this situation to our advantage, becoming stronger, more self aware, and increasing our movement repertoire and choices. In this way our Yoga can accompany us throughout our whole lives.

Using slow, strong, conscious movement, with attention to detail, this class aims to develop stability and strength, to clarify and improve healthy ranges of motion and joint stability through proprioception, increased movement repertoire and choice through new and different ways of moving, as well including movements to favour the circulation of synovial fluid to help keep joints supple. This could be a stand alone practice or support your current practice, whatever style of Yoga or sport that may be.

Suitable for all levels. Previous experience with Yoga, Pilates, Martial Arts, Dance or Gymnastics is advisable. Please note this is a Flow class. It is not gentle Yoga.

Yin & Yang Yoga class

October 1, 2018 Naomi Hayama
Yin and Yang Yoga with Tash on Wednesday nights

New weekly Yin & Yang yoga class starting Wednesday 3rd October with Tash from 7:30 -8:45pm. This class interweaves the clarifying energy of yang to the rejuvenating qualities of yin. The combination of passive (yin) and vigorous (yang) yoga practices, is rooted in the idea that, in order to create balance in your overall practice, it is necessary to alternately exert and quiet yourself. We will begin by moving through strong dynamic postures, and end with a deeply immersive yin practice, where postures are held for longer periods.

It’s intelligently designed to leave you feeling calm, grounded and centred, having a powerful effect on your energy systems building stability and mobility through asana, pranayama and deep relaxation.  Each week we will focus on a theme varying from joints and body parts to working through chakras.

Everybody is welcome to the class as Tash can cater for all levels through modifications and intelligent use of props.

New Hatha Yoga Class

March 28, 2018 Naomi Hayama
Hatha Yoga on Thursday evening at the Bristol Yoga Centre

We are starting a new Thursday evening Hatha Yoga Class with Amber from 19th April 2018.  This class is suitable everyone including beginners and more advanced students.

Amber's Hatha yoga classes draws influence from meditative restorative yoga and will use some stronger poses to help bring focus into the present moment. You will be working with pranayama (breathing techniques) and students will be encouraged to tap into their own breath to enable them to feel more deeply into physical postures. Whether you are new to yoga, a regular yogi, or have not been to a session in years, this class is open to all.

Drop in students and MoveGB users welcome! Concessionary rates (NHS workers included) are available.

New Pilates Class

March 8, 2018 Naomi Hayama
New Pilates class starting at the Bristol Yoga Centre

We are adding two new Pilates classes soon as all our existing Pilates classes are so popular!  Jo Batten will be teaching on the following times:

  • Monday 2:45 - 3:30pm starting from 9th April

  • Friday 12:45 - 1:30pm starting from 13th April

Jo's Pilates classes pay particular attention to the details of each exercise, every movement is deliberate and considered to maximise its effectiveness and minimise unnecessary effort and tension. In addition everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace and in a way that best supports them.

The overall aim of the class is to help improve balance in the body; releasing muscles that tend to overwork (for example the shoulders and lower back) and strengthening the often less used weaker muscles, particularly those that support the joints.

Get in touch with Jo to book your space. Fees will be £1 cheaper than our day rate as this is a 45 minute class. See here for details on our prices. The classes will also be available on MoveGB!
