Monthly Yoga Workshops

March 14, 2019 Naomi Hayama
Bristol Yoga Centre runs two monthly yoga workshops. Scaravelli and Yin yoga

We now have two monthly yoga workshops at the Bristol Yoga Centre. These extended sessions are a great way to deepen your practice and spend a little longer exploring new techniques. Our next Scaravelli Yoga and Mindful Yin Yoga workshops are:

Mindful Yin Yoga with Emilia on Saturday 23rd March from 3:00 - 5:30pm

This workshop uses Yin Yoga and Mindfulness (MBSR) with elements of Restorative Yoga to create a space of allowing a deep letting go at all levels. We will also practice Pranayama (breathing practice) to bring profound sense of internal balance and harmony.

Scaravelli Yoga with Katy on Sunday 24th March from 11:30 - 1:30pm

The workshop explore a free-form, intuitive approach to practice, with a focus on how to move in a more connected, harmonious way. Inspired by the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli, you will learn to move sensitively, avoiding imposing on the body and helping you to move with ease towards each Asana.

Please check our yoga workshop page for more information.

New Sunday Evening Yin Yoga class

March 2, 2019 Naomi Hayama
New Sunday evening Yin Yoga class with Tash

We are starting a new Sunday evening Yin yoga class from 17th March from 6:30 - 7:30pm with Tash.

Yin is the passive, cooler, reflective and relaxed. The yin way is a gentle and surprisingly powerful method to invoke change in both body and mind. This class offers a unique way of practicing that seeks to embrace stillness and relaxation. Rather than moving dynamically, postures are mostly rooted in the ground, removing all physical effort for the student. The removal of effort allows us to unpin our connective tissue (fascia) that holds our body in place and defines our physical shape.

It’s accessible to all ages, body types and levels of experience. Tash also teaches more dynamic Yin and Yang class on Sunday from 5:00 - 6:15pm every week.

Sustainable Flow Yoga Class: Creating a strong, stable practice.

October 18, 2018 Naomi Hayama
Sustainable Flow Yoga class with Leonora

Tailored Yoga for the hypermobile, the super bendy & the injured.

Monday at 7:30 - 8:45pm with Leonora

This class is open to all, but is especially designed for the hyper mobile, the super bendy and the injured who wish to create or maintain a longevous, sustainable Yoga practice.

As a recovering hypermobile myself, during my 32 year personal practise, I've learnt (the hard way) how to adapt and create a more supportive way of doing Yoga, which incidentally has made me a lot stronger! As a teacher, over the years I've seen a great many people (especially women and fellow Yoga teachers) drawn to Yoga precisely because of their hyper mobility, unaware that a certain way of moving is not only unsustainable but could lead to long term joint instability and/or injury. But we can turn this situation to our advantage, becoming stronger, more self aware, and increasing our movement repertoire and choices. In this way our Yoga can accompany us throughout our whole lives.

Using slow, strong, conscious movement, with attention to detail, this class aims to develop stability and strength, to clarify and improve healthy ranges of motion and joint stability through proprioception, increased movement repertoire and choice through new and different ways of moving, as well including movements to favour the circulation of synovial fluid to help keep joints supple. This could be a stand alone practice or support your current practice, whatever style of Yoga or sport that may be.

Suitable for all levels. Previous experience with Yoga, Pilates, Martial Arts, Dance or Gymnastics is advisable. Please note this is a Flow class. It is not gentle Yoga.
